Politics of Health, Health Diplomacy, and Policy for Global Health

TODAY’s interconnected world, health challenges require more than clinical solutions— understanding of how politics of health, health diplomacy, and policy shape health at national and global levels.
This course equips students with the knowledge and skills in politics of health and global health diplomacy needed to meaningfully influence the global health architecture. By
- Strengthening capacities in evidence-based policymaking
- Addressing health workforce challenges, and improving medical and pharmaceutical systems
- Students are prepared to contribute to resilient and equitable health systems
- The course also builds competence in animal and nutrition security, digital health and artificial intelligence, and medical innovation
- Enabling learners to navigate complex, cross-sectoral health challenges and drive effective global health action
Expected Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, learners will be able to :- Explain the relationships among politics of health, health diplomacy, and health policy in the context of global health. (Understanding)
- Describe key health system issues, including evidence-based policy, human resources for health, pharmaceutical systems, animal health and foods & nutrition security, digital health, and medical innovation. (Understanding)
- Analyze situations or the roles of stakeholders that link politics, diplomacy, and policy to global health. (Analysis)
- Apply knowledge and skills to identify problems and develop solutions related to global health, linked to key health system issues of interest. (Analysis)
- Apply knowledge of health policy, human resources, pharmaceutical systems, animal health, digital health, and medical innovation to plan or solve health problems in simulated scenarios or case studies. (Applying)
- Design collaborative approaches in health to address national or global health problems. (Creative)

Who can apply : Anyone related to or interested in health and global health, including undergraduate and postgraduate students, public health officers, government officials, policymakers, and diplomats.
End of course : participants will develop the capacity to work multisectorally and collaborate across borders addressing complex global health challenges and advance the Sustainable Development Goals.
